Everybody knows these kinds of love are bad:

  1. Abusive love
  2. Superficial love
  3. Manipulative love
  4. Possessive or controlling love
  5. Love rooted in envy or jealously
  6. Conditional love based on meeting certain standards
If you don't love yourself, you will be forced to accept all kinds of love from others. Kinds of love that might never feel good to you.

But think about these types of love for a moment:

  4. 'I will love you by showering you with advice because everything is about me and this is my opportunity to feel good about myself' love
  5. 'Power play' disguised as love
  6. 'Let me fix you because you are not capable' love

Those usually go undetected. Don't let them be! To truly love yourself, it's essential to recognize and prioritize the ways in which you feel loved. You can set healthy boundaries and communicate your needs effectively by doing so. It's also important to receive love in ways that truly feel loving to you, as this is how others can learn what it means to love you in genuine and fulfilling ways.
